Renee Liberman will become a bat
mitzvah on Saturday, May 1, at Temple
Kol Ami. She is the
daughter of Andrea
and David Liberman
and sister of Scott.
Sharing in her simcha
will be her grandmoth-
er Belle Liberman. She
is also the granddaugh-
ter of the late Sidney
Liberman and George
and Muriel Tarnoff.
Renee is an honor student at Abbott
Middle School in West Bloomfield,
where she plays the flute. She enjoys her
summers at Olin Sang Ruby Union
Institute in Oconomowoc, Wis.
She recently participated in a special
bat mitzvah ceremony in Jerusalem dur-
ing a Temple Kol Ami family trip to
Israel. Renee's mitzvah projects include
helping at an interfaith golf tournament
and being a helper in the preschool reli-
gious school. Her hobbies include ski-
ing, playing the flute and dancing.

Erin Stacey Fried will become a bat
mitzvah on Saturday, May 1, at Temple
Israel . She is the
daughter of Janis and
Jeffrey Fried, sister of
David and grandchild
of Katherine Sattler
and Marsha and
Norman Ross. She is
also the granddaugh-
ter of the late
Seymour Fried and the late Carl Sattler.
Attending Warner Middle School in
Farmington Hills, Erin is interested in
collecting shells, rocks and foreign coins,
playing the piano, singing and learning
about dog and cat breeding. Among her
mitzvah projects, she volunteered at the
Denby orphanage, worked in the
Temple Israel religious school office,
assisted with the Passover candy sale at
Hillel Day School and donated to the
Michigan Humane Society.

Joseph Jay Pickens will be called to the
Torah as a bar mitzvah at havdalah ser-
vices on Saturday, May
1, at Temple Israel. He
is the son of Karre and
Michael Pickens and
brother of Mindy.
Excited grandparents
are Hattie and Irving
Pickens and Beverly
and Lowell Salasnek.
His most meaningful mitzvah project
was collecting funds for the March of
Dimes. An honor student at Abbott
Middle School in West Bloomfield,
Joseph likes snowboarding, hockey, golf
and baseball.
