artier boutique at the
Somerset Collection in Troy
held a soiree last week to
kick off the upcoming
Juvenile Diabetes Foundation's
Promise Ball. More than 100 patrons
gathered at the event to honor the
organizers and honorary committee
members. While admiring the stun-
ning jewelry, guests were abuzz about
the progress being made daily toward
a cure.
"My son has been diabetic since he
was 12 years old," said Janice
Cherkasky of Franklin, a co-chairman
of the event. "We are hoping for a
cure. It's closer than ever, and we
working toward the cure.
Some of the people spotted in the
crowd included Karen and Richard
Lutz, Lorraine and Arthur Schultz,
Marilyn Berman and Richard
Cherkasky.
The Promise Ball will be held
Friday, June 11, at the Roostertail in
