IRVING B. ACKERMAN, 89, former
Detroiter of Pompano Beach, Fla., died
April 16.
Mr. Ackerman was a 1929 graduate of
the Detroit College of Law. He specialized
in real estate and con-
demnation law and
founded the law firm
of Ackerman &
Ackerman. In 1950
he was appointed to
the Wayne County
Board of Supervisors.
He was active in the
Retired Lawyers
Association and in the
1980s worked with Sen. Claude Pepper to
utilize retired attorneys as judges during the
Haitian immigration crisis.
Mr. Ackerman was a board member of
Adat Shalom Synagogue and served as
regional chairman for the Greater Detroit
Chapter of the Israeli-American Friendship
League. A 32nd degree Mason, he was active
in the YMCA. At age 5 he sold newspapers
at the corner of Grand River and Griswold
and in 1968 he served as president of the
Old Newsboy Goodfellow Fund.
He is survived by his wife of 59 years,
Feige Ackerman; son and daughter-in-law
Alan and Sharyl Ackerman of Birmingham;
daughters Judith Ackerman and Tamara
Ackerman; grandchildren Elana, Matthew
and Daniel; brother and sister-in-law Charles
and Frieda Ackerman; sister Molly Littky.
Interment at Adat Shalom Memorial
Park. Contributions may be made to the
Shiffman Education Fund at the Jewish
Federation of Metropolitan Detroit and the
Old Newsboy Goodfellow Fund of Detroit.
Arrangements by the Ira Kaufman Chapel.
DOLORES ARONSSON, 73, of
Southfield, died April 15.
For 23 years, Mrs. Aronsson was a
Southfield High School librarian. She
received master's and specialist degrees in
library science from Wayne State University.
Mrs. Aronsson is survived by her hus-
band, S. Lawrence "Larry" Aronsson; daugh-
ters and sons-in-law Elisabeth and Robert
Shubow of West Bloomfield, Patricia
Aronsson and Emanuel Silberstein of
Washington, D.C., Joyce Aronsson and
Ernie Mueller of Missouri; grandchildren
Jennifer and Lauren Shubow, Eric and
Jessica Mueller; sisters Ruth Silverman of
Farming,ton Hills, Beatrice Raitt of West
Bloomfield; brother and sister-in-law
Morton and Cookie Oppenheim of
Southfield; brother-in-law and sister-in-law
J. Burton and Shirley Keys of Florida.
She was the loving mother of the late
Richard Aronsson.
Interment at Clover Hill Park Cemetery.
Contributions may be directed to the
Alzheimer's Foundation and the Hospice of
Michigan. Arrangements by the Ira
Kaufman Chapel.
BERTHA BRANT, 89, of West
Bloomfield, died April 13.
She is survived by her son and daughter-
in-law, Dr. Leonard and Michelle Brant of
San Francisco; daughter and son-in-law
Elaine and Dr. Edward Treisman of
Bloomfield Hills; grandchildren William,
Sarah, Dr. Glen and Joyce, Dr. Jonathan
and Ruth, Douglas and Tamara, Warren;
eight great-grandchildren.
Mrs. Brant was the beloved wife of the
late Philip Brant.

of one's choice. Services and interment at

LOUIS M. CITRON, 86, of Keego
Harbor, died April 19.
He is survived by his daughter, Judy
Gottlieb of Novi; brother and sister-in-law
Irving and Esther Citron of Southfield; sister
and brother-in-law Rosaline and Marvin
Reider of Southfield; grandchildren Marcia
Jeffries, Michael Gottlieb; great-grandchil-
dren Jason Jeffries, Brian Jeffries, Blake
Jeffries, Danielle Jeffries, Blair Gottlieb,
Taylor Gottlieb.
Mr. Citron was the beloved husband of
the late Eve Citron and loving brother of the
late David Citron, the late Emil Citron, the
late Sylvia Schwartz, the late Ruth Shekter,
the late Alex Citron.

STEPHEN ROBERT ELYAKIN, 39, of
Ann Arbor, died April 12.
Mr. Elyakin was born in Brooklyn
and moved to Israel in 1984. He was
passionate about trees and people. He
worked in Kibbutz Misgav Am orchards.
In 1996 he moved to Ann Arbor where
he worked for Margolis Nursery,
National Garages and Banktec.
He is survived by his sister and broth-
er-in law, Iris and Eitan Natanson of
Israel; brothers and sisters-in-law Neal
and Bunky Elyakin of Ann Arbor, Kirk
and Marilyn Elyakin of East Windsor,
N.J., Adam and Mindy Elakin of Passaic,
N.J.; nieces and nephews Shira of Ann
Arbor, Dana and Barak of Israel, Leah,
Sarah Tovah, Moshe Pinchas, Yitzhak
and Haim of New Jersey.
He was the loving son of the late Sydelle
and Herman Elyakin.

BARBARA FAITH (ROSE) BOWMAN
FAGELSON, 57, native Detroiter of
Calabasas, Calif., died March 25.
Mrs. Fagelson was dedicated to the
youth of - the community. She was the
3rd longest serving Board Member in
the Las Virgenes Unified School District,
having been elected in 1985 and reelect-
ed three times. She helped start the
Calabasas Safe Rides program and was
