hen the Shuback family of West
Bloomfield leaves the Congregation
Shaarey Zedek B'nai Israel Center after
Shabbat services, you may see parents
Fred and Mindy walk toward home, while their three
children walk in another direction.
Following the synagogue's weekly kiddush-lunch that
they share as a family, Marissa, 16, Jeremy, 14, and
Andrea, 10, set out for West Bloomfield High School
for play rehearsal.
"Combining the best of both worlds" is how Jeremy
sees pursuing interests that involve rehearsals and per-
formances on Shabbat, while still remaining committed
to Conservative Judaism. The siblings are members of
