Saturday, April 10, at Congregation
Beth Shalom. He
will be joined on
the bima by his
parents Jay and
Joanna Abramson,
brothers Jacob and
Jonathan, and
grandparents Janet
Abramson of West
Bloomfield and
Walter and
Margaret Stark of Huntington
Woods, and uncles, aunts and
cousins. He is the grandson of the
late Julius Abramson.
The Hillel Day School seventh
grader is an honors student and
Torah Club member. He has partici-
pated on the cross county track and

Josh has dedicated his bar mitz-

teachers at Hillel, Cantor Max
Shimansky, who encouraged Josh
and a close group of friends to par-
ticipate in the Torah Club, which
trains students to read from the
Torah at the school's daily minyan-
im. The group formed a Mincha
Minyan that meets daily after
school.
Josh is an artist who has attended
Interlochen Academy of Music and
the Arts. He loves archery and
shoots at the Detroit Archery Club
in West Bloomfield. He swam for
Detroit at Maccabi Games last sum-
mer. His entry in the Michigan
Science Fair competition was exhib-
ited at Detroit's Cobo Hall and
earned an "outstanding" ranking.
Josh is a volunteer at Yad Ezra and
has participated in many mitzvah
projects, including visits to the
elderly at area nursing homes and
working with JARC residents. He
hopes to travel to Israel this summer
with his family.
