people"? You bet!
Within the Torah
observant community, the
number of occasions calling for cel-
ebration is astounding.
For starters, Shabbat is celebrated
weekly with three formal meals on
good china. Hachnassat orchim, the
mitzvah of hosting guests, is stan-
dard practice in observant homes.
Combine that with typical large
family size, and you've got the vir-
tual equivalent of an extended
Thanksgiving feast each and every
week.
"I laugh every November and
December when the media makes
such a to-do about cooking for the
(secular) holidays," says one Oak Park
homemaker. -
