&umbra' Tips

Slip a few Q-tips in your sleeve
or your bra, says Laurie Sorge.
They're perfect to dab away
tears, and you won't smear your
makeup.
Visine is a must, says Kymber
Blake. Eyes become red from
flash photography. A few drops
throughout the evening will
help you look bright-eyed in the
wedding photos.
Exfoliate the night before the
wedding, says Sharon Raskin.
Place thin potato slices on eyes
and pores. The acidity closes
pores and reduces swelling.

Whether dramatic or toned-down,
contouring and professional applica-
tion is essential, says Raskin, especial-
ly when it comes to those blushing
cheekbones. She recommends a pre-
event experimental makeover so there
are no surprises on the big day.
For the more dramatic bride,
Raskin lines top and bottom lids with
a black/brown combination. Brown
and bronze shadows give eyes a
monochromatic, but exotic look. "I
go heavy-duty on the mascara," she
says, "and pencil-in the eyebrow
shape." Using contour and blush, she
highlights the cheeks, nose, chin and
forehead. Lips are lined in a spice
tone and colored with a rosy brown
matte lipstick.
"There is no rule concerning
whether to let eyes or lips dominate,"
says Raskin. "It's a personal decision.
Some women need to tone down lips
so their eyes stand out. You have to
look in the mirror and make sure you
see yourself. You certainly want your
fiance to recognize you underneath
the veil."
When Raskin's clients want a more
subtle look, she gives them "demure,
but with punch. She uses custom-
mixed foundations to perfectly match
skin tones, adds warmth to cheeks
with some contour, lines only the
lower eyelids and finishes with a pink
allover glow. Lips are given a dab of
silver shine.
