Puzzled about where to find the best gifts? Sherwood has the solution! year? Local Jewish bookstores sell numerous CDs and cassettes with ne song, and you can read in the Encyclopedia Judaica about the history of "Hatikvah," which was written by Naftali Herz Imber. (Note: If you do not have access to the Encyclopedia Judaica and would like a copy of this informa- tion, please send a self-addressed, stamped envelope to Hatikvah, c/o The AppleTree, 27676 Franklin Road, Southfield, MI 48034, and we'll send it to you.) #6) Make your own party hats. You probably already know how to make these using a piece of firm oaper, or you can buy solid-col- ored ones at a party store. Then decorate the hats apropos of the holiday. You can use crayons and markers or be more creative. Visit a craft store and you'll discover great but inexpensive charms, glitter glue and various pieces of felt, to name few. Have a contest to make the best hat or just have fun making the hats together as a family. #7) Even if you're not a coffee drinker, even if you're doing your best to get away from caffeine, give Turkish coffee a try (this is for adults and older children only, please). You can purchase Turkish coffee at local specialty markets, such as Arabic Town Imports on Coolidge Road in Oak Park. Turk- ish coffee has a strong, distinct aroma that you'll find throughout Israel. Make the coffee by mixing several tablespoons with water, then bring it to a boil. DO NOT drink the solid grounds at the bot- tom, which are called buzz or mud. Sugar is a must in Turkish coffee. #8) Perhaps the idea of looking at someone else's family photos of a trip to Israel is, in a word, terri-y - ing. But it .won't be if everyone brings just one photo. On Israel Independence Day, why not ask guests over for dessert and have each bring a favorite photo from a trip to Israel. Ask them to tell the story behind the picture. 30% Off (most mfrs) plus...Complimentary Gift Wrapping 6644 Orchard Lake Road at Maple West Bloomfield • 248 855-1600 Mon-Thur 10-9 Tue-Wed-Fri-Sat 10-6 Sun 12-5 o 8tuclo8 Free Alzheimer's Citregiving Seminitr If you're caring for someone with Alzheimer's, don't miss this important event.
