AT A Cohn-Haddow Hosts Professor The Cohn-Haddow Center for Judaic Studies' George M. and Pearl A. Zeltzer Annual Lectures on Women and Judaism will sponsor two presen- tations by Professor Deborah Dash Moore, Vassar College. She will speak on Sunday, April 11, at Congregation Beth Shalom. Her lecture will be on "Beyond the Golden Door: Jewish Women in America." There will be a discussion of the creation of the two- volume work Jewish Women in America: An Historical Encyclopedia (New York, Routledge, 1997). Professor Dash Moore won the Dartmouth Medal of the American Library Association for Best Reference Book in 1997 and the Association of Jewish Librarians' Reference Book Award, for her co-editorship of the encyclopedia. On Monday, April 12, Professor Dash Moore will give a second presen- tation on the Wayne State campus, in 4339 FAB, at 3 p.m. on her current research on "When Jews Were GI's." Mel Kepes Is Honored Mel Kepes, a builder, real estate broker and active leader in Jewish and civic affairs, will be honored by Southfield's Furniture Club at a brunch Sunday, April 11. The brunch is open to men and women. Checks for $25 should be made out to the Furniture Club. Kepes has been an active supporter of the Israel Cancer Association of Michigan, American Friends of Hebrew University, Magen David Adorn, Jewish Theological Seminary, Bais Chabad Lubavitcher Congregation, the City of Hope Cancer Research of Duarte, Calif, and the Jewish National Fund, under whose auspices he established the Melvin and Inez Kepes Memorial Fund. He is also a life member of Mosaic Perfection Lodge, a 32nd degree Shriner and a member of the Masorti Movement for Conservative Judaism.
