A group
gathered
at Temple
Israel.
Kosher Catering and contracted to
cater events at B'nai Moshe and the
JCC, said his halls could accommo-
date more people but would sacrifice
comfort.
"The average organization draws
200 to 250 people," said Linker, but
noted that the number depends on the
organization and the keynote speaker.
Linker, at both the JCC and B'nai
Moshe, is under restraints of having
the events be kosher, which isn't a
necessity at Temple Israel. When it
comes to organizations, they're sensi-
tive to wanting to be kosher because
they want that mass appeal," he said.
In the course of a year, Linker will
handle fewer events at B'nai Moshe
than his counterparts at other syna-
gogues because the synagogue doesn't
book multiple bar or bat mitzvahs on
a weekend.

will start almost a year before anything
else at the center, "it will be a showcase
for us," said JCC Executive Director
David Sorkin. "This is the communi-
ty's ballroom, and I think the Jewish
community will be pleased with it."
The renovated hall will remain
much the same as Shiffman Hall,
with a portable stage and dance
floor. According to Sorkin, the quali-
ty of the room will allow for more
activities.
Linker said the JCC wouldn't be
looking to steal away clientele from
the synagogues, but would target the
community's 40 percent of unaffiliated
Jews.
"If people have nowhere to go, they
could use the center," Linker said. "I
think a lot of organizations would use
it not just for annual dinners, but cor-
porate meetings, lunches and power
breakfasts.
"I think the JCC will definitely
have its niche," he continued. "Beth
Shalom was booked more after it was
renovated." E
