AVA MARLENE VINTON, 42, formerly of Oak Park, of Helena, Mont., died March 10. She was a speech pathologist in the Helena school district. A 1974 graduate of Oak Park High, Mrs. Vinton (nee Segal) received a B.A. degree from Michigan State University and a master's in speech pathology from Western Michigan University. She worked in her field in Ohio, California, Minnesota, Idaho and Colorado. She married in 1984. Mrs. Vinton was the subject of a Jewish News article in 1996 describing her struggle to fund an autologous bone marrow transplant for ovarian cancer. The procedure was approved by her insurance carrier six weeks later. She is survived by her husband, Philip Vinton; daughters Mara Faye and Paige Leah; sisters and brothers-in-law Susan and James Wagenheim of Wixom, Gloria and Larry Woodlock of Sacramento.
