Bar/Bat Mitzvah

Melissa Sarah Rowe will be called to the
Torah as a bat mitzvah on Saturday
morning March 20,
at Congregation
Shaarey Zedek. She is
the daughter of
Joanne and Dr.
Michael Rowe and
j the loving sister of
Jeremy. Proud grand-
parents are Eleanor
and Monte Korn and
Dorothy and Dr. Irving Rowe.
Melissa is an honor student at O.E.
Dunckel Middle School in Farmington
Hills. She enjoys playing the piano and
flute, drawing, singing, acting, family
activities and sports.
Her mitzvah projects include volun-
teering as a youth counselor at
Congregation Shaarey Zedek's Camp
Betman; a concert performance with
piano, flute and song at the Fleischman
Residence and participation in the
annual Salvation Army "Shining Light"
Christmas Day food program.

- Robert FI: Reznick will celebrate his bar
mitzvah at Havdalah services on
Saturday, March 20,
at Temple Israel. He
is the son of Robin
and Harvey Reznick
and grandchild of
Suzanne and
Sherman
Mendelsohn and
Dave Reznick. He is
also the grandson of
the late Rose Reznick.
Mitzvah projects included assisting
senior citizens at Hechtman
Apartments, volunteering at the Temple
Israel Labor Day picnic and collecting
donations fOr the American Cancer
Society. An honor student at Detroit
Country Day School in Birmingham,
Robert plays travel baseball, basketball,
computer games and the piano.

Samuel Kaufman will celebrate his bar
mitzvah on Saturday, March 20, at
Congregation Bet
Chaverim. He is the
son of Judge Richard
Kaufman and Elaine
Lenart and brother of
Sean. His proud
grandparents include
Marjorie Kaufman,
Phil and Kate Lenart
and Judge Charles
Kaufman.
Samuel attends Pioneer Middle
School in Plymouth, where he is an

honor student and plays the clarinet in
the school band. His mitzvah work is
on-aboina. he tutors learning disabled
children at his school. He has also vol-
unteered at Yad Ezra.

Ryan Eric Berlin will celebrate his
bar mitzvah at Temple Israel on
Saturday, March 20.
He is the son of
Laura and Dr.
David Berlin and
brother of Jason
and Michael. •
Excited grandpar-
ents are Sara and
Max Berlin and
Doris Gottlieb.
Proud great-grandmother is Fanny
Whitman. He is also the grandson of
the late Eugene Gottlieb.
For his mitzvah projects, he assist-
ed seniors at the Fleischman
Residence, volunteered in the reli-
gious school office and donated to a
student at West Hills Middle School
in Bloomfield Hills. Ryan is interested
in wrestling, hockey and basketball.

He is the son of

Jennifer Sisk. Proud
grandparents are
Ernest Gradis and
Agnes Crites. He is also the grandson
of the late Anne Gradis and the late
Chesley Crites.
An honor student at Riley Middle
School in Livonia, Michael likes
drawing, golf, swimming and corn-
puter games. He found it particularly
meaningful to donate to the
Holocaust Memorial Center as part
of his mitzvah projects.

a Havdalah service at Congregation
Beth Abraham
Hillel Moses on
Saturday, March 20.
Jared is the son of
Maralyn and Steven
Averbuch.
Participating in the
service will be his
brother Aaron and
his sister Elana.
