DIA Tour

The Cultural Commission of
Congregation Shaarey Zedek is sponsor-
ing a bus tour to the Detroit Institute of
Arts on Thursday, March 18, to view
the exhibit of illuminated manuscripts.
The collection is on loan to the DIA
from the Jewish Theological Seminary.
Breakfast will be served at Shaarey
Zedek at 9:30 a.m., with the bus depart-
ing at 10:15. Following a docent-led
tour of the exhibit, the participants will
return to the synagogue by 1 p.m.

The Agency for Jewish Education of
Metropolitan Detroit continues its
NIRIM workshop series with Nira Lev,
director of Hebrew programs at AJE, 7-
9 p.m. Thursday, March 18.
Part three will focus on "Aleynu —
Motivation, Teaching Vocabulary and
Grammar." During the session, teachers
will learn step-by-step approaches for
planning a lesson.

IDF Speaker
At Israeli House

The Israeli House of Detroit will host
an evening with members of the Israel
Defense Forces (IDF) 8 p.m. Saturday,
March 20, at the D. Dan & Betty
Kahn Building of the Jewish
Community Center of Metropolitan
Detroit in West Bloomfield.
The Israeli House is a program for
Israelis and Americans who want to
strengthen their connection to Israel
through cultural and social events.
The evening's program will feature a
talk by Izhar Tubi, an IDF soldier •
wounded in the terrorist attack in Kfar
Darom, Gaza, last October. Vocalist
Anna Virovlyansky and pianist Noam
Inbar, both with the IDF orchestra and
band, will entertain.
Sponsors are the Michigan/Israel
Connection of the Jewish Federation of
Metropolitan Detroit and the Michigan
