Attorney General
To Speak At Beth El

Michigan Attorney General Jennifer
Granholm will be the speaker at a
Sisterhood-spon-
sored communi-
ty luncheon at
noon Thursday,
March 18, at
Temple Beth El.
Granholm,
Michigan's first
female attorney
general, won her
post in her first
race for political Jennifer Granholm
office.
The first
child in her family to graduate from col-
lege, Granholm worked her way
through University of California-
Berkeley and Harvard Law School with
a combination of scholarships, .loans and
part-time jobs. She made Phi Beta
Kappa in undergraduate school. At
Harvard, she served as editor-in-chief of
the Civil Rights/Civil Liberties Law
Review
Upon her return to Michigan,
Granholm worked in the U.S.
Attorney's office, where she earned corn-
mendations from several federal agen-
cies. In the late 1980s, she worked in

the Wayne County Executive Office.
Beginning in 1995, Granholm served as
Wayne County's corporation counsel.
Proceeds from the luncheon will ben-
efit youth activities at the congregation.

Feminist Seder

The Detroit Women's Forum, a pro-
ject of the American Jewish
Committee, Detroit Chapter, will host
its annual feminist seder and vegetari-
an lunch noon Friday, March 26, at
the First Congregational Church in
Detroit.
Open to women of all religious back----)
grounds, the two-hour seder includes a
retelling of the Passover story. The event
explores women's roles in the original
journey and creates bridges from the
past to the present.
As part of the experience, the Festival
Dancers of the Jewish Community
Center will perform and lead the seder
participants in dance.
The church is located at 33 E. Forest
at Woodward, two blocks south of the
Detroit Institute of Arts. There is a
charge for the seder lunch. For informa-

HMC Expands

Participants in the signing of an agreement between the Holocaust Memorial Center
and the United Jewish Foundation of Metropolitan Detroit for the expansion of the
HMC on the West Bloomfield Jewish Community Campus were Dr. Steven Grant,
Alan Zekelman, Mark Hauser, Rabbi Charles Rosenzveig, Penny Blumenstein,
