Items were listed on signs hanging up all over the front wall ... from Jewish dishes to Italian to Polish to Mexican to steaks, etc. NOBODY EVER DID figure out why that big red English double-deck- er bus was parked on the parking lot at the Rascal House, owned by Jack Meyers, Al Hacker and Bernie Glieberman on 10 Mile at Southfield roads ... But the forerunner of Golden Mushroom sure attracted a lot of attention with it. IF YOU BROUGHT your own napkin into Greenfield's Restaurant on Woodward, it was charged to your bill. CARL ROSENFELD, who owned Carl's Chop House, raised prize Black Angus steer on his farm in Dexter, Mich. ... The restaurant's carpeting incorporated into its design the Rosenfeld brand ... the head of a Black Angus steer against a blue rosette. PEOPLE WHO asked, "What is Confetti's?" could be assured of three things ... It was in a former Maple House on Orchard Lake Road at Maple.... its owner was Bruce Cameron (Meating Place, Midtown Cafe) ... and its menu concept was a takeoff of Noodles in Toronto. Seating 140, Confetti's usually offered seven or eight fresh fish spe- cialties at lunch or dinner ... It was the farthest thing from Matt Prentice's mind when he owned the little Deli Unique in Oak Park ... but now called Flying Fish, today it is one of the 14 restaurants in Matt's Unique Restaurant Corporation. AT ONE TIME or another, 11 Dimitri's restaurant operations were opened by Dimitri (Jim) Syros and sold to relatives ... His Dimitri's of Southfield was probably the largest and most beautiful "basement" restau- rant anyplace ... with eating for 300 in 12,000 square feet. ONE OF THE sections of the menu at Down Under in downtown Detroit's Hart Plaza, was called "Potato Farm" ... with six different styles of stuffed baked potatoes. GREENBERG'S DELI at Broadway Market sold "two cents plain" seltzer ... but the two pennies never saw the register ...
