He is the son of Eileen and Steven Foon, brother of Michael and grandchild of Rita and Edward Foon. He is also the grandson of the late Bernice and Lester Gaines. Visiting resi- dents at Fleischman was Elliot's most meaningful mitzvah project. He also volunteered in the Temple Israel Media Center and donated to the Jewish National Fund. Attending Warner Middle School in Farmington Hills, Elliot enjoys sports and video games. Ronnie Karbal Brant will be called to the Torah as a bar mitzvah on Saturday, March 6, at Congregation Shaarey Zedek. He is the son of Dr. Norman and Laurie Brant and brother of Noah. Proud grandpar- ents are Marilyn Karbal and Benjamin and Blanche Brant; great-grandmoth- er is Ida Samuels. Ronnie also is the grandson of the late Ronald M. Karbal. Ronnie is an honor student at Bloomfield Hills Middle School in Bloomfield Hills, where he is involved with student leadership. He enjoys hockey, baseball, skiing, lis- tening to music and going to Camp Tamakwa. Mitzvah projects include volunteering at Yad Ezra and spend- ing time helping at Shaarey Zedek synagogue and religious school. Ronnie is looking forward to a trip to Israel this summer with 19 family members. Sam Silverman Langberg will become a bar mitzvah on Saturday, March 6, at Congregation Beth Abraham Hillel Moses. Sam is the son of Lois and Mark Langberg, brother of Laura and Andy. Proud grandparents are Harold and Helen Langberg and Isadore and Evelyn Silverman. Sam is a seventh grader at Berkshire Middle School in Birmingham. He enjoys computers, outdoor activities and music. His mitzvah projects included volun- teering at Yad Ezra and Paws for a Cause. Alyssa Machelle Trotsky will cele- brate her bat mitzvah on Saturday, March 6, at Adat Shalom Synagogue. She is the daughter of Tracey and Alan Trotsky and sister of Ashley. Alyssa attends Warner Middle School in Farmington Hills, where she is an honor student and plays clarinet in the school band. Alyssa enjoys bas- ketball, tennis, dance, skiing, music, camp, softball and the computer. She completed her 13 mitzvot program, which included building a ramp for a wheelchair-bound man for the Kenny Foundation, serving the homeless and sharing a special Shabbat service with JARC at Adat Shalom Synagogue. David Louis Cohen will become a bar mitzvah on Saturday, March 6, at Temple Emanu-El. He is the son of Beth (Anbender) and Ronald Cohen and the older brother of James. David is the grandson of Arlene Anbender and the late Samuel Anbender and Shirley Cohen Modiano and the late Louis Cohen. He is also the step-grandson of Joseph Modiano. David is a seventh-grade student at Orchard Lake Middle School in West Bloomfield. His interests include playing in-line hockey, aggressive skating and music. He also has an avid interest in comput- ers. For his mitzvah project, David has been a mother's helper and has volunteered at Yad Ezra.
