from the Army Reserves in 1970 as
chief warrant officer IV He was a junior
vice commander for the Detroit
Chapter of the Military Order of the
World Wars.
After the war, he went into business
with his father and brother at Michigan
Bag and Barrel Co. in Detroit. In 1951
he started Enterprise Industrial Sales,
selling steel to the automotive industry
He contributed to student scholar-
ship and loan programs at a variety of
schools including Wayne State
University and University of Michigan-
Dearborn.
A lover of art, Mr. Berkowitz
amassed the largest collection of
Baccarat Crystal in the United States.
He donated his collection to the
University of Michigan-Dearborn. In
recognition of his support of education
and service to humanity, he received an
honorary degree from Wayne State
University.
Mr. Berkowitz is survived by his sis-
ter, Bertha Levine of Bloomfield Hills.
He was the loving brother of the late
Ruth Berkowitz, the late Julius
Berkowitz and the dear brother-in-law
of the late Joseph Levine.
Interment at Machpelah Cemetery.

MICHAEL ERIC BERMAN, 43, of

Southfield, died Feb. 25.
He is survived by his wife, Carroll
Berman; mother Shirley Berman of
Farmington Hills; brothers and sisters-

Berman of Farmington Hills, Daniel
Berman of Deerfield Beach, Fla.; sister
and brother-in-law Carolyn and George
Lowe of Southfield; nephews Jordan,
Evan, Jared, Robert, Gabe.
Mr. Berman was the loving son of
the late Robert Berman.

PEARL CEIFETZ, 80, of Huntington
Woods, died Feb. 27. Mrs. Ceifetz was a
member of the United Order of True
Sisters.
She is survived by her son, Gilbert

Ceifetz of Huntington Woods; daughter
and son-in-law Shelley and Harold
Gach of Huntington Woods; grandchil-
dren Glen and Dean Ceifetz, Caryn and
David Gach; sister and brother-in-law,
Eve and Leon Becker.
Mrs. Ceifetz was the beloved wife of
the late Louis Ceifetz.

ALEC CRANIS, 85, of Oak Park, died

Feb. 22. Mr. Cranis was a retail sales
consultant.
He is survived by his sister, Pauline
Kaback of Sunrise, Fla.

CHARLES DWORIN, 97, of Walled
Lake, died March 1. Mr. Dworin was a
painting contractor. He was a member
of the Natural Hygiene Society, the
Jewish War Veterans and Beth Tikuah
Emanu-El.
Mr. Dworin is survived by his sons
and daughter-in-law, Dennis and
Marilyn Dworin, Arthur Dworin;
grandchildren Jennifer and David
Solberg, Michelle and Joey Gustavus,
Erik and Jay Dworin; great-grandson
Zachary Stephen Solberg; brothers and
sister-in-law Sam Dworin, Philip and
Birdie Dworin; sister and brother-in-law
Nancy and Nathan Salicoff.
He was the beloved husband of the
late Kate Dworin; the dear brother of
the late Sarah Figlen, the late Harry
Dworin, the late Doris Gartman, the
late Nate Dworin.
