Women's American ORT will present
the premier of its Reach for the Stars
Academy Awards Night Celebration to
raise funds for ORT students in the
United States, Russia, Israel and around
the world.
The event will take place 7:30 p.m.
March 21 at the home of Rose Ann and
Bernard Rosenthal. Committee chairs
are Cindy Franklin and Harriet
Jacobson. Debbie Levin, Michigan
Region Young Leadership co-chair, is
the national associate chair for this
event.
The ORT event will feature a dessert
buffet, celebrity auction, "creative" black
tie attire and celebrity appearance. The
evening is open to all ORT supporters
who are first-time donors ($100) or
who upgrade last year's contribution by
at least $25.

Women's Seder

With Haggadah

A Haggadah with special additional
readings for women will be among
the highlights of the Jewish women's
seder, beginning 6 p.m. Wednesday,
March 24, at Adat Shalom
Synagogue.
The seder, hosted by the
Federation Women's Campaign and
Education Department, will give
women of each generation an oppor-
tunity to celebrate together the spiri-
tuality of Passover.
Sissi Lapides and Nancy Gad-
Harf are chairing the event. Women
in the community age 12 and over
are invited.
Reservation deadline is Monday,
March 1. Cost of the seder, which
includes a Passover meal, is $30 per
person, payable in advance.

Judge Sosnick gave a judicial perspective.

Theatre production of Never the Sinner,
a play based on the famous Leopold-
Loeb 1924 murder case in which two
wealthy Chicago teenagers kidnapped
and killed a 14-year-old neighbor in
their attempt to commit the perfect
crime.
Sosnick, answering audience ques-
tions, said the landmark case was the

first to raise questions of whether young
offenders qualify for capital punishment
and to examine the effect of environ-
ment factors, like a child's relationship
to his parents, on criminal behavior.
The drama runs Wednesdays,
Thursdays and Sundays at
7:30 p.m. and Saturdays
at 8 p.m. until March 7.
Sunday matinees are at 2
p.m.
