Days Of Decision Volunteers
Make Pivotal Campaign Calls

Volunteers interested in making a
difference to their community and
people in need may do so at the
Jewish Federation of Metropolitan
_,, Detroit's Days of Decision commu-
nity effort on behalf of the 1999
Allied Jewish Campaign.
During Days of Decision, March
18, 21, 22 and 23, everyone in the
community will have a chance to
volunteer support for programs and
services funded by the Campaign.
Hundreds of volunteers will make
telephone calls seeking pledges.
Immediately following Days of
Decision, decisions will be made on
how Campaign dollars will be allo-
cated.
The Campaign supports opportu-
nities to celebrate Jewish life

through family and community
experiences, Jewish education, meals
for older adults on low income,
assistance to people with disabilities,
help to families in crisis and rescue
of Jews in peril.
Thanks to the Nancy and Jim
Grosfeld Campaign Challenge Fund,
increases are matched dollar for dol-
lar, and new donors' gifts are dou-
bled.
Assistance from volunteers keeps •
costs down, making more money
available to help people in need.
Less than 7 percent of Campaign
proceeds go to administration, mak-
ing more funds available to help.
To volunteer for Days of Decision
phonathons, call Leonard Milstone
at Federation, (248) 203-1457.

Town Hall Meeting
In Grosse Pointe March 4

Grosse Pointe will be the setting for
the third in a series of town hall
meetings sponsored by the Jewish
Community Council and The Jewish
News, aimed at reaching out to new
Jewish populations in metro Detroit.
Hosted by the Grosse Pointe
Jewish Council, the Grosse Pointe
town hall meeting will begin at 8
p.m. Thursday, March 4, at the
Grosse Pointe War Memorial, 32
Lake Shore Dr., Grosse Pointe
Farms.
The town hall meetings represent
the first concerted effort by the
organized Jewish community to

reach out to residents living outside
Oakland County communities with
significant Jewish populations.
Each meeting offers participants
the chance to learn about the various
services provided by metro area
Jewish organizations, discuss their
needs and explore the issues facing
them as Jewish members of their
community. Leaders from area con-
gregations and agencies will take
part and respond to questions.
Future town meetings are planned
for Jews in Troy/Rochester and
Plymouth/Canton.
