Pianist David Syme will return to
Temple Beth

with "Joy of
Music," a
seven-ses-
sion music
appreciation
series for
David Syme
both the
uninitiated
and sophis-
ticated listeners.
Syme has gained recognition for
his classical concerts at Lincoln and
Kennedy centers and in major music
halls in 11 European countries,
Canada and Mexico.
The first six classes in the series
will focus on a specific composer, his
life and work. The final class will be a
summary session with questions and
requests. Each session will feature a
full-scale performance. On March 3,
Syme will present Beethoven, Sonata
opus 57 Appassionata; on March 10,
Schumann and his Carnaval; on
March 17, Liszt, etudes and
Hungarian Rhapsodies; and on March
24, Chopin, nocturnes, sonatas, bal-
lads and scherzos. On April 14, he
will feature Rachmaninoff, preludes,
and Second Piano Concerto; on April
21, Schubert, various sonatas; and on
April 28, a summary.
Students may attend the series on
an individual basis. Fee for the
course is $100 for members; $125
for non-members. Individual class
fees are $20 for members and $25
for non-members.
