#3) Opt For A Change Of Venue When I'm feeling so short-tem- pered I'm getting downright snap- py, I'll suggest to my children that we do something else that very moment. If we're in the house, we'll get out — even if it's just to go get a slurpee or ice cream. If we're in the store and everyone is fussy, I'll move to another area (like the toys). Change of place, however small and seemingly insignificant, can bring a change of attitude. And that brings me to my last point, and it also has to do with attitude: #4) Accept Responsibility For Your Behavior We give ourselves so many excus- es. "I meant to send that birthday card, but..." or "Sorry I didn't get that report to you like I said I would..." Whether we admit it or not, as adults we are in control of our behaviof. Before you scold, yell at, mock, curse or threaten your child, stop and ask yourself: Is this worth making a big deal about? Step back and assess the situation and take control of your- self. And yes, you can do it. Patience is a skill, and one that requires a great deal of work. Don't give up. Compliments Rachel Nevada, "Albom in the Afte oon ShOV‘i" M.B. JEWELRY DESIGN Et MFG. LTD.
