Association blood drive 8:30 a.m.-2:30
p.m. Sunday Feb. 7, at the school. The
event is coordinated with a Jump Rope
and Hoops for Heart event, a national

donations to help fight heart disease

Honors Set
For Teachers
The Lyric Chamber Ensemble will
make its first Piano Teacher of the Year
Award at the annual festival, 3 p.m.
Sunday, March 7, at Temple Beth El.
Children 8-13 may nominate a
piano teacher by sending a 150-word
essay (one half-page typed or full page
hand-written) completing the sen-
tence, "My piano teacher deserves an
award because ..." The essay should
describe the qualities the teacher
exhibits which bring out in the student
his artistic expression and love for
music. Essays should be sent to the
Lyric Chamber Ensemble, 3000 Town
Center, Suite 408, Southfield, MI
48075, to be received no later than
Feb. 25.
The top 10 finalists and the stu-
dents who nominate them will receive
free tickets to the concert and will be
recognized on stage. The award will be
presented by Lyric founder Fedora
Horowitz, who will travel from her
new home in Israel to perform at the
festival. She will be join by pianists
Michael Gurt, Tomoko Mack and
Kazimierz Brzozowski.

Intergroup
Dialogues Set
The National Conference for
Community and Justice will sponsor
an initiative intended to improve
intergroup relations throughout the
metropolitan Detroit area.
The initiative, titled "Different peo-
ple, Common Ground," is a series of
small group dialogues which help par-
ticipants develop understanding and
tolerance for people of different racial,
religious and ethnic backgrounds.
Participants will attend three-hour
sessions led by a trained facilitator
and held at a location convenient to
everyone. There is no charge to par-
ticipate.

Volunteers are needed to help make dolls for Hadassah's Doll Project. The dolls
are donated to local hospitals. No sewing experience is needed. Volunteers meet
