Congregation Shaarey Zedek has
acquired an interest in a 20-acre site in
Novi, but its executive director,
Leonard Baruch, emphasized that it
has no plans to move from Southfield
or West Bloomfield.
"There may be land but that doesn't
mean we have plans to move," he said.
The 20-acre Novi tract is at the
northeastern corner of Twelve Mile
and Meadowbrook roads.
Deed records for two neighboring
parcels, each about 10 acres, carry

the congregation's name. Shaarey
Zedek moved from Detroit to
Southfield in 1962, merged with
B'nai Israel of West Bloomfield in
recent years and opened an educa-
tion and youth center in West
Bloomfield in mid-1997.
Planning officials in Novi said the
land is zoned residential. Additionally,
no site plans have been submitted to
develop the site.
