WHEN IT CLOSED for lunches
last September, reason given was a
good one ... Not enough service for
the lunch crowd at his Flying Fish on
Orchard Lake Road and West Maple
... Matt Prentice did the right thing ...
He closed lunches until being able to
give service the way he wants.
That time has come ... and Flying
Fish will again be open for lunch ... as
of Monday, Feb. 1, 11 a.m.
BEST BETS are those Thursday
blues nights now at Ja•Da on E.
Larned, with live entertainment giving
out a lot of great rhythms ... Nothing
the matter with the live jazz brought
by owners Armanda and Bill Herbert
on Friday and Saturday evenings ... Or
their wonderful soul food, too.
QUITE A BIGGIE is expected to
open on that corner of 14 Mile and
Orchard Lake Road in West Bloomfield
with the shopping center to include a
large 38,000-square-foot Merchant of
Vino/Whole Foods Market.
The marker will have a meat
department, deli department, seafood
department, salad bar, sushi bar, etc.
... Opening is forecast for the latter
part of this year or early 2000.
THE TRIO from Jamaica kept wel-
coming people to 'Tom-Pan-ohs," until
owner Ramzi Neber finally got through
ro them that it was Pompano's.
And after saying it correctly, they
were thrilled amid the all-around hand
clapping.
Reception festivities by Pompano's
seafood dining spot in the Holiday Inn,
Grand River and 10 Mile in Farming-
ton Hills, came about five weeks after
its quiet opening ... and amid mounds
of shrimp, oysters Rockefeller, salmon,
clams, etc., introducing folks ro what
may be the answer to Holiday Inn's
search for a successful restaurant to fol-
low Maxwell's, Jimmy's and Brady's.
SWINGTIME '99 by Fanclub

Jan. 30, 7:30 p.m., will transform the
Fisher Building lobby at Grand Boule-

setting ... with much food, live enter-
tainment and art stylings.
