The excellent dishes prepared with such tasty goodness have never gone out of style ... There just haven't been too many places in recent years that served a good variety ... A new sign will show the name changed to Desert Sands restaurant. This is so it won't be confused with The Sheik, also on Orchard Lake Road, between Pontiac Trail and Lone Pine ... whose name remains the same. Both are under separate ownership. GET WELL WISHES ... to Dave Hermelin ... recuperating after his operation at Henry Ford Hospital. OUTSIDE THERE was upwards of 12 inches of cold blizzard snow ... Inside, Mel Ball and Colours were putting out high energy rhythms to make things hot for dancers like Gov. John Engler and Michelle Engler, who danced until 2 in the morning. It was the second inaugural event for Engler ... and the bad weather be hanged, almost everyone invited showed up at the Fisher Theatre Sat- urday evening wingding.
