Brad's parents, Michele and Lou Elkus, and sisters, Rebecca and Sarah, will also par- ticipate in the ser- vice. Brad is the grandson of Phil Elkus and the late Irene Elkus and Shirley and Iry Tennenhouse. Brad is in the seventh grade at Orchard Lake Middle School in West Bloomfield and attends Hebrew School at Adat Shalom, where he completed the 13 Mitzvot Program. Brad enjoys soccer, football, ski- ing, rock climbing, karate and col- lecting sports memorabilia. Mira Samet, daughter of Sandra Gross Samet and the late David Samet, will cele- brate her bat mitz- vah at a Havdalah service at Shaarey Zedek B'nai Israel Center on Saturday, Jan. 16. Mira is an honor student at Norup Middle School in Berkley, where she plays flute in the band. She is also a member of the Habonim Dror youth movement and has attended Camp Tavor for several summers. Mira is the sister of Raya Samet, the granddaughter of Phyllis Samet and the late Harry Samet and of the late Chaya and Sol Gross. Mira's mitzvah projects included making frames and cards for chil- dren at Alyn Children's Hospital in Israel. Sara Rachelle Carli will become a bat mitzvah on Friday, Jan. 15, at Temple Kol Ami. Sara is the daugh- ter of Judy and•Richard Carli, the sister of Sam, Matt and Gianni and the granddaughter of Dubby Spivack and Josephine and Rudolph Carli. She is also the grand- daughter of the late Jack Spivack. Sara is a student at Orchard Lake Middle School in West Bloomfield. Her hobbies include acting. For community service, she visited senior citizens at a nursing home and prepared Yad Ezra bags for Rosh Hashanah. Out Of State Bar/Bat Mitzvah Aaron Mickelson was recently called to the Torah as a bar mitzvah at Temple Emanu-El in Atlanta, Ga. Aaron is the son of former Detroiters Carol and Sam Mickelson and brother of Leah and Lauren. He is the grandson of Harry Lane and Thelma and Bernie Mazur. He is also the grandson of the late Esther Lane and the late Harry Mickelson. Aaron is a student at the Epstein School of Atlanta. He enjoys guitar and bicycle riding.
