American Academy of Dramatic Arts
in New York and moving on to clubs.
Rickles found he was better talking to
audiences directly than telling jokes, and
his "insult" style evolved. Steadfast to his
work, Rickles also is steadfast in his fam-
ily. He and the former Barbara Sklar,
married since 1965, have two children
— Mindy Beth and Lawrence Corey.
