It's tough to tell what the site
www.jewhoo.com is getting at. Is this
a useful way to find out which people
in the spotlight are Jewish or a hurtful
stab?
The site, a parody of the highly
popular search engine Yahoo!, has list-
ings of Jewish athletes, actors, media
personalities, business leaders and gov-
ernment officials.
The site is laid out identically to
Yahoo!, down to the font it uses. The
names of people listed on the site as
being Jewish can be linked to Yahoo!
itself, where the search engine will
search for the celebrities' names.
The index pages "in the news" sec-
tion have links to search engines on
several news-based Web sites that will
search for the word "Jew." World and
national "Jewhoo" will search the word
"Jew" in a variety of cities and coun-
tries where Yahoo! has search engines.
The site has links to: People Search,
Personals, Classifieds, Jewish Holiday
Guide and recipes, among others.
While this site offers an easy way to
out find who may be Jewish, it isn't
always accurate (figure skater Tara
Lipinski is not Jewish, despite being
listed here).
It also lists some Jews in sports
obscure to Americans, like rugby and
cricket.
The site is published by the online
"Fade to Black Comedy Magazine,"
whose motto is, "Leading the world to
higher consciousness through ruthless
mockery and cheap publicity stunts."

If taken with a sense of humor, this
isn't a case of ruthless mockery, but
generally a solid source for informa-
tion.
