Hospital Expands

uron Valley-Sinai
Hospital, one of the eight
hospitals of the Detroit
Medical Center, has
opened a 158,000-square-foot
expansion.
Highlights include the new and
expanded Merle and Shirley Harris
Birthing Center, a new branch of the
Barbara Ann Karmanos Cancer
Institute, expanded surgical operating
suites, a new cardiopulmonary services
unit and a regional specialty center.
This project doubles the size of the
original hospital that opened in 1986 at
1 William Carls Dr. in Commerce
Township. The hospital offers over 470
physicians.
"In response to the growth in popu-
lation in the surrounding communities
and the need to expand services to meet
the needs of the community, we are
pleased to announce a bigger and better
Huron Valley-Sinai Hospital," said Paul
Broughton, senior vice president,
Oakland region, for Detroit Medical
Center.

birthing in a warm, hospital setting.
