n almost mystical glow
emanated from the main
sanctuary Friday night, as
families from Temple
Beth El brought menorahs from
home to celebrate Chanukah.
Just before the ceremony, more
than 600 members had dinner, and
Cantor Steven Dubov sang original
verses of "I Had a Little Dreidel"
written by children in a contest:
After dinner, the families made
their way into the main sanctuary-
where menorahs, placed on foil-cov-
ered tables, circled the sanctuary.
Once Cantor Dubov chanted the
blessings, the lights were turned off,
and families, basked in the warmth
of the candles.
"Chanukah celebrates the miracle
of lights," said Rabbi David Syme,
On this particular Friday night, we
were part of the miracle of family
togetherness."
