Eilu v' Eilu's site, www.cbahm.org/eilu.htm is meant for the public but comes off with a very institutional feel to it. It gives "practical suggestions for enhancing the spiritual dimension of Chanukah," such as reviewing the story of Chanukah, reading inspirational sto- ries and cleaning out a child's toy closet and donating rarely used toys to charity. The material on the site was present- ed at the Rosh Chodesh study session held earlier this month by Beth Greenapple, a teacher at Hillel Day School of Metropolitan Detroit and the community educator for Eilu v' Eilu, the cooperative adult Jewish learning project. On the site, Greenapple states her two perceived goals for the workshop are to examine a conceptual framework for Chanukah that gets away from things and moves toward personal/spiritual growth and God, and to suggest some ways of exploring with self, friends and family in celebration of the holiday. The site has a lot to offer for families who are not very traditional in their beliefs, or don't have much overall knowledge with respect to the holiday. However, it offers nothing in the way of visual attractiveness as does The Jewish Magazine. The Jewish Magazine's Web page at www.jewislun.ag.co.il is a bright, color- ful, alluring site both because of what the site offers and the advertisements on the left side of the page. The page offers basic and useful information, such as lighting the Chanukah candles and a recipe for pota- to latkes. It gives essays on whether a third temple will be built in Jerusalem and one person's proof that miracles do happen. Although much of the site is dedicat- ed to Chanukah, there is some space reserved for general interest Judaism. Both sites are certainly worth taking a look at, but neither may offer what you're looking for. — Lonny Goldsmith
