nition as a connoisseur.
"From the fad of 'doggie' restaurants
and bakeries, we've evolved to the
canine cookbook, courtesy of Dan Dye
and Mark Beckloff. Dye and Beckloff
are the owners of Three Dog Bakery
(started in Kansas City, Mo.) a takeout
food shop for dogs [there also is a Birm-
ingham location at 223 E. Maple Rd.].
"Their book, The Three Dog Bakery
Cookbook,' contains 50 ways to tempt
your pooch to run to that plastic bowl
at mealtime — not that most dogs ever
really need much persuasion. Still, for
that 'best of show' for whom Kibbles
Bits just doesn't cut it, Dye and Beckloff
offer such recipes as Scottie Scones,
Corgi Crumpets, German Shepherd's
Pie and Labrador Lasagna.
"The book sells for $12.95, presum-
ably at better pet stores everywhere. As
a bonus, the authors maintain that the
foods are all safe for humans, so what to
do with leftovers shouldn't be a prob-
lem."
AMONG THE reasons why Mori
Mahal Indian Restaurant gets a big
mark for authenticity is because of its
true Indian dishes that no other dining
spot has.
It's located on the corner of Crooks
and Auburn roads in Rochester Hills, to
where owner Abdul Ullah moved his
former Royal Oak spot.
His brother, Mukidh Ullah, who has
the Ali Baba Indian restaurant in Wad-
ford, England, regularly sends him
recipes like the Balti dishes with special-
ized English herbs for chicken, beef and
lamb, and that wonderful Fish Tandoori
from India.
MUCH CREDIT for a lot of the
new interior design at Baci Italian Chop
House in Pontiac goes to Scott Patria
and his Gallery Function Art on N.
Saginaw, in Pontiac ... Given the non-
working fixtures from the former Kern's
Department Store ... and the Venus-like
statues from Saks, they were told to cre-
ate something "schmaltzy.
New fixtures were designed from the
elements Scott was supplied with ... the
result was the creation of blown-glass
shades for all five fixtures ... as well as
blown glass balls found in the stem of
three hanging fixtures ... Also, to get an
extra stylish look, sprays of steel wires
with gold roping and dangling crystals
were attached to each lamp.
For the hanging fixtures, Scott's final
touch was to create the illusion that the
fixtures had fallen, complete with sur-
rounding plaster, from the ceiling ...
This was achieved with artist foam
board (like that used on movie sets),
steel cables, and coiled cords to look as
