Leonard-Sudakin

Dr. and Mrs. Leonard Sudakin of Birm-
ingham announce the engagement of
their son Daniel to Taiga Leonard,
daughter of Bruce Leonard and Robin
Evans of Portland, Ore.
Miss Leonard earned a bachelor's
degree in nutrition at Oregon State Uni-
versity. She is employed as a clinical
dietician at Legacy Health Systems in
Portland. Daniel earned a degree in

medicine at Wayne State University and
completed a residency in public health
and preventive medicine at Oregon
Health Sciences University. He is a fel-
low in medical toxicology at the Veter-
an's Administration Medical Center in
Portland.
A May wedding is planned in Port-
land.

Kernis-Weiss

Elyse Beth Weiss and Dr. Steven Joel
Kernis were married recently at Congre-
gation Shaarey Zedek. Rabbi Irwin
Groner and Cantor Chaim Najman
officiated.
The bride is the daughter of Emery
Weiss and the late Elaine Weiss of West
Bloomfield. The groom is the son of Dr.
Irving and Bernice Kernis of Orchard
Lake.
Andrea Sneider, cousin of the bride,
was the maid of honor. Bridesmaids
were Lauren Kernis, sister of the groom;
Mary Kay Weiss, sister-in-law of the
bride; Ali Kay; Jennifer Wolinetz; and

Michelle Fenberg. The best man was
Michael Weisberg. Groomsmen were
Eric Weiss, brother of the bride; Brad
Trivax; Jason Pollak and Brandon Pol-
lak, cousins of the bride; Carl Raboi;
and David Elias.
The couple were happy to have
Bernard and Libbie Sneider, grandpar-
ents of the bride; Roslyn Weiss, grand-
mother of the bride; and Rose Shanker,
grandmother of the groom, participate
in their simchah.
Following a honeymoon in Hawaii,
Elyse and Steven reside in Rochester,
Minn.
