Light One Candle
For Chanukah

he Jewish Community Cen-
terof Metropolitan Detroit
will host "Light One Can-
dle," a Chanukah program
especially for families with children
ages 5-10.
The program takes place on
Wednesday, Dec. 9, at the Kahn JCC
in West Bloomfield and on Thursday;
Dec. 10, at the Jimmy Prentis Morris
JCC in Oak Park. At 6:30 p.m., par-
ticipants may choose to enjoy a
kosher pizza dinner from Jerusalem
Pizza ($3 per person). Dinner is
optional. The free educational pro-
gram begins at 7 p.m.
Participants will learn the song
"Light One Candle" and learn about
a way to make this Chanukah even
more meaningful. The Chanukah

story relates that the Maccabbees
fought for the values they believed in
strongly. Many of these values are still
important to Jewish families today.
This Chanukah, as each candle is lit,
we can honor a value, mitzvah or
family member. Each family will cre-
ate and decorate a menorah to use
this year (one menorah per family.)
To make reservations, due today,
call (248) 661-7649 for the Dec. 9
program or call (248) 967-4030 for
the Dec. 10 program.
The Chanukah programs are spon-
sored by the Jewish Community Cen-
ter of Metropolitan Detroit and Jew-
ish Experiences for Families, a divi-
sion of the Agency for Jewish Educa-
tion of Metropolitan Detroit.
