He was a World War II veteran, having served in the Pacific as a P.F.C. in the artillery division of the Army. After his dis- charge in 1945, at the end of the war, he went into the real estate and build- ing business. He built stores, office buildings and hundreds of homes in the Detroit area, city of Warren, Madison Heights, Nankin Township and Southfield.
