gan Foundations, Michigan ranks
fourth nationally with more than
5842 million raised annually in chari-
table foundation dollars ... Chefs and

"no" when it comes to raising money

ian's Grill and Sebastian's at the Som-
erset Collection of Troy, has a new

CHUCK HAMMOND, former
development head of the Detroit Zoo,
now director of development for the
Barbara Ann Karmanos Cancer Insti-
tute, tells of the waiter taking his son to
the zoo... The boy was struck by the
offhand way an attendant tossed a slab
of raw meat into the cage of a pacing
tiger ... "Papa," asked the boy, "why
didn't that man serve the meat nicely
like you do?" ... The waiter bent down
and whispered to his son, "Confiden-
tially, Sammy, tigers are rotten tippers."
Chuck also tells the one about the
youngster sporting a deer and asking
the keeper, "What kind of an animal
is that? ... "What," teased the keeper,
"does your mother call your father
every night?" ... The youngster, star-
tled, cried, "Don't tell me that's a
skunk!"
