best. King Django dedicated this CD

ciples of faith are included on the
back of the jacket. For the open-
minded, this one is for you.

Moshe Schulhof, one of the fore-
most Cantors in the world today, was
recognized ar age 6 as a child prodi-
gy. The famed chazzan, Dovid
Kussevitsky, realized his potential
and took him under his personal
tutelage. This cantorial CD is actual-
ly easy to listen to. Cantor
Schulhof's renditions of "Kol Nidre"
and "Kaddish" are heartwarming and
moving. The first cut, "Tal," the tra-
ditional request for dew, sung at the
beginning of the Pesach holiday, fea-
tures a classic voice over duet with
Yossele Rosenblatt, expertly done and

sound to the accompanying instru-
ments. The group also makes use of
such exotic instruments as Darabula,
an Arabic-type drum, ashik, an
African drum, Jaws harp as well as a
plethora of trombones, guitars and
other traditional instruments. Some
pieces worth catching are an original
number called "The Shlump" (a
Yiddish word that is translated ono-
matopoetically), a ladino version of
"Open your closed Door," and a
wonderful Arabic rendition of "Dror
Yikra."
Although the concept of what
Tzimmes is trying to do may be orig-
inal to this Canadian group, the idea
is not new. For my money I would
investigate some of the groups that
Tzimmes is trying to imitate; Esta,
Atzilut, or Frank London. *
