The left-hand frame offers 10
links to information regarding agency
programs and what they offer: domestic
violence, older adults, adults and fami-
lies, immigration and citizenship, leave
a legacy, alliance for adoption, volun-
teer and educational consultation.
Each section gives a brief back-
ground on what the departments do
and, when applicable, whom to talk to
for gathering the necessary informa-
tion.
While the site has been up since
Oct. 2, it has seen minor traffic
because of a lack of publicity and not
being completed, according to
Marketing Director Dave Moss, who's
in charge of writing material for the
site.
"We're looking to add color to make
it more lively," he said.
The site is overwhelmingly dark,
with a gray background and black type
on every page. Even the photos that
are used are black and white.
However, agency staff seems to be
pleased with the response it's gotten
from the sire.
"I think it can get us more into the
mainstream and allow people to get
information easier than if they called
up and tried to get a hold of some-
one," said Interim Executive Director
Karen Fink. "We are still getting off of
the pilot stage and looking to increase
what's on it."
Fink would like to have a page with
JFS job openings, and a question-and-
i Bookmark It
answer-type of "Ask the Therapist"
page.
The links page is the most puzzling
inclusion to the site. It presents sites
relevant to JFS, such as adopting
Jewish children and Chinese children,
as well as a site for kids. Then it also
offers links to the Washington Post,
ESPN and the Detroit Institute of
Arts.
Moss said there was no method to
the inclusion of those sites. "It's just
stuff that may be of interest to the
average person," he said.
Fink hopes to add to the links page
and ask those sites to include links to
the JFS site.
This site gives solid information
that, if not aesthetically pleasing, is
easy to navigate. It is certainly worth a
look.
