A series of workshops for caregivers of
persons with Alzheimer's Disease will
be held 6:30-8:30 p.m. Wednesdays,
Dec. 2, 9 and 16, at the Max M. Fish-
er Jewish Federation Building, 6735
Telegraph, Bloomfield Township.
The workshops will provide infor-
mation about the disease and related
dementia disorders and give instruc-
tion on how to communicate with a
memory-impaired person. Speakers
will talk about how to deal with prob-
lem behaviors and offer information
about community resources. Legal and
financial considerations will be dis-
cussed.
Guest speakers will be Dr. Rhonna
Shatz, division head of behavioral neu-
rology, Henry Ford Health System;
registered nurse Lisa Binns-Emerick of
the Senior Memory Evaluation Cen-
ter, Harper Hospital; and attorney and
counselor Don L. Rosenberg of Bar-
ron and Rosenberg P.C.
Admission is free, and refreshments
will be served.
The workshop is a presentation of
the Alzheimer's Disease and Related
Disorders Caregiver Education Pro-
ject.

High School
In Israel
The Jewish Federation's
Michigan/Israel Connection will have
an information meeting about high
school programs in Israel at 7:45 p.m.
Thursday, Dec. 3, at the Max M.
Fisher Jewish Federation Building,
Butzel Conference Suite, Room A,
Bloomfield Township.
Six high school programs are avail-
able, lasting from eight weeks to one
year. With money supplied by the
United Jewish Foundation of Metro-
politan Detroit, Federation offers a
$2,000 subsidy to residents of Wayne,
Oakland and Macomb counties.
Financial and merit scholarships are
available.
As program participants, students
will have the opportunity to learn
about life in Israel, study Hebrew, visit
religious and historic sites, work on a
kibbutz and form connections with
Israelis.
Programs are fully accredited and
open to students in grades 10-12.
Representatives from the various
programs will be on hand to answer
questions. Refreshments will be
served.

Memorials
The Jewish War Veterans Memorial
Home Association in Southfield is
seeking information on 50 of the 250
veterans in this area who were killed
in World War II, but whose picture
and biography have not been placed
in the Memorial Room.
The association has the names of
the 50 veterans, but needs their fami-
lies to provide biographies and pic-

Israel Travel
Dream Lottery
An "Israel Dream Lottery," for college
students who would like to spend a
period of time in Israel, is again being
offered by the Women's Campaign
and Education Department of the
Jewish Federation of Metropolitan
Detroit.
The Women's Department will
award cash prizes in the amount of
$2,000 for a semester program or up
to $1,000 for shorter programs. The
lottery is open to Metropolitan
Detroit-area students age 30 or
younger who are currently enrolled at
any college or university and have
completed one year of college by June
1999.
The cash prize may be applied
toward any program approved by the
