WCW's Website features them as do many stores and malls in the metro Detroit area. • Goldberg also is one of the main characters in the new video game, "WCW-NWO Revenge" for Nintendo 64. He is featured on the game box and in the opening sequence. Recently, WCW and Mastercard announced a new "Goldberg" cred- it card. He was also on hand for "WCW Day" on Wall Street and helped ring the closing bell at the New York Stock Exchange. Goldberg also has his official Web page where visitors can read an inter- view with him, join his fan club, get the latest news on Goldberg, or read about his career as a University of Georgia football standout. Another interesting irony to Goldberg's popularity is the fact that most of his matches have taken place in areas that aren't usually considered hotbeds of Judaic fervor — like Ozark, Ala., for example. And that doesn't go unnoticed by the man who originally considered calling himself "Mossad," the name of the Israeli intelligence agency "I've yet to have a derogatory com- ment thrown my way, and that amazes me," Goldberg says. "Someone once wished me a Happy Chanukah, so I took that as a posi- tive. They pay me a lot of money to wrestle, but they couldn't ever pay me enough to listen to any crap about my religion." They also couldn't pay him enough to return to the gridiron, which has been a rumor that's been growing louder as his list of quickly dispatched opponents has grown longer. "That dream of playing pro football is in the past. I've been there and done that," he says without hesitation. "Fortunately, I've got a second chance with another career, so why would I go back to football?" Why, indeed. In the span of a little under a year, he's gone from being Bill Goldberg, washed-up football player, to becoming "Goldberg," the man with wrestling's Midas touch.
