Presents The Ultimate Traditional
A RIDE DOWNTOWN to the
Westin on Jefferson was to attend the
recent Ronald McDonald House
"Evening of Laughter."
Michael and Sandy Hermanoff,
among others, parked their car and
then discovered that they had gone to
the wrong hotel
He is a former president of Ronald
McDonald House, and presently on
the board of directors ... She is a
prominent public relations gal.
It was being held at the Westin in
Southfield, formerly Radisson Plaza ...
where the Algonquin Room foyer was
filled with hors d'oeuvres, open bar
and silent auction items ... The room
itself had over 300 for dinner, comedy
and dancing.
Mike and Sandy, at our table with
David Leider, Darlene Smith, Richard
Ruby, Carol Rothenberg and Mat and
Krisw Stoll, told of talking to their son,
Jeffrey, with Army Intelligence in
Seoul, Korea, and asking what he had
made for dinner recently ... "Fried
chicken in a microwave," Jeffrey said ...
(Hmm, wonder if Army Intelligence
knows somethinc, we don't about mak-
ing this dish?)
Irwin Kahn, owner of Gardner-
White Furniture Co., donates a recliner
every year for the silent auction ... He
has been a long-time supporter of
Ronald McDonald House, encouraged
by his friend, Alan Frank, general man-
ager of WDIV-TV ... Irwin's reminis-
cence of other days in the furniture
game is good listening ... Harry and
Sylvia Granader, of course, talking
about their wonderful Mak-A-Dream
Camp in Gold Creek, Mont., for chil-
dren with cancer ... Their son, Gary
Granadar, was last year's winner of the
Ronald McDonald top-ranking Heart
Award, and this year presented it at the
event to Alan Frank.
Being with dedicated people is
among pleasures to be enjoyed ... Their
devotion is so real.
