Exquisite crystal from J.G. Durand of France.
At Sherwood.
Of course.
ents can use on-line resources to plan
the event, from invitations to budget.
The left-side tabs of the site's plan-
ner section offer four choices: bud-
get/vendor information, guest manag-
er, our info and help. In the planner
section, a calendar can be printed with
what has to be done and by what date.
The budget tracker for planning
the parry shows a national average of
costs, based on 200 people in atten-
dance; your estimated total cost; and
your actual cost for providing 14 basic
necessities. (Note that travel to Israel,
hiring a tutor or giving tzedakah are
not taken into account on the bottom
line.)

Parents can enter their guest list,
and the guest manager will track
whether or not RSVPs have been sent
back, and who is coming.
The right side of the site's planner
section lists questions for parents to
answer regarding preparation for the
event, including the ceremony, party,
attire, tzedakah projects and a wish
list, which acts as a registry for bar
and bat mitzvah gifts.
The `±about me" link on the main
toolbar offers children a chance to tell
about themselves. The bar or bat mitz-
vah children, who have a password
separate from their parents, can work
on their speech with help from the
site, learn about tzedakah and projects
they can do, or upload photos to their
album.
The cost is $35, less than it would
cost to hire a party planner. As a pro-
motional deal, the first 100 subscribers
for the service get to use it free.
In a move that's certainly helpful
for potential users, a guinea pig was
used to illustrate the pros and cons of
the site. On the opening page, in the
name field, sign in as Jeremy Stern
and use the password mitzvah.
The site appears to be a relatively
painless way to plan a bar or bat mitz-
vah party, and should prove helpful
for anyone doing this for the first
time.
