Mark Leuchter:
Combining two loves.

On His Mark

He's getting his doctorate in biblical studies,
but Hillel Day School grad Mark Leuchter
aims to be a filmmaker.

or all of his intellect, when it
gets right down to it, Mark
Leuchter wants what most
26-year-old American males
want: money and a steady girlfriend.
But that is about all he has in corn-
mon with most men his age.
For example, if he had $50,000,
Leuchter wouldn't spend it on a fast
car, hip clothes or even an expansion

of his CD collection. Instead, the
1987 Hillel Day School grad would
use that $50,000 to produce a movie
next summer.
Based on a screenplay Leuchter
wrote, the film focuses on the high jinks
of a college-age disc jockey whose
schooling is paid for by an anonymous
benefactor after the student loses his
scholarship. The setup unravels when
the student attempts to learn the identi-
ty of his benefactor.
Leuchter has spent recent weeks
scouting locations for his film, which
