Brook Hall's executive
director Lisa Baylis Ashby, an exhibition titled
"Tiffany: Essence of Light From the Meadow Brook
Hall Collection." It is on display at Oakland
University's Meadow Brook Art Gallery through
Sunday, Nov. 15.
The gallery's refurbished space is light and fresh.
Track lighting illuminates the artwork with halogen
bulbs, making the pieces pop out and the colors
sparkle. Each piece of art in the show has been taken
from Matilda Dodge Wilson's collection at Meadow
Brook Hall.
Enlarged photographs showing the artwork in its
original context hang on the walls, as do the original
illustrations for Tiffany by noted early 20th-century
artist George Wharton Edwards.

made, with brilliant color and detailing. Tiffany
allowed artisans working on projects to choose the colors they wanted to use,
allowing for unique, one-of-a-kind items.
Matilda Dodge Wilson originally purchased numerous Tiffany fixtures for the
home she shared with auto titan John Dodge on Boston Boulevard. She hired
Tiffany to design the interiors for the home the couple were building on Lake
Shore Drive in Grosse Pointe, and commissioned over 50 glass panels to be set in
the windows.
