Winter Classes

Na'Amat Hears
Rabbis' Views

Registration for the winter I class ses-
sion is taking place at the Jimmy
Prentis Morris Jewish Community
Center in Oak Park. Classes will begin
the week of Sunday, Nov. 8.
In the Sports and Recreation
Department, classes offered for children
and adults include: gymnastics, basket-
ball, roller hockey, volleyball, table ten-
nis, floor hockey, tennis, bounce volley-
ball, yoga, tai chi and karate.
The Aquatics Department will offer
a full range of Red Cross swimming
classes for children and adults ages 6
months through seniors. In addition,
new members may sign up for the
Rock Hoppers swim team, which
meets 4:30-6 p.m. Monday through
Thursday, and 4:30-5:30 p.m. Sunday.
Planned in the Jewish Life and
Learning Department: pre-school
dance with Miss Harriet, Tuesdays at
10:15 and 11:15 a.m.; introduction to
photography, Thursdays at 7 p.m.;
Kindermusik, Thursdays at 10 a.m.;
Just the Two of Us, for children ages
17-24 months, Mondays at 10 a.m.;
I'm a Big Tot Now, for children 2-3
years old, Wednesdays at 10 a.m.; and
Computer Tots, Thursdays at 1, 1:30,
2 and 2:30 p.m.

Na'Amat USA, Greater Detroit
Council, will present a dialogue
between Rabbi Steven Weil of Young
Israel of Oak Park and Rabbi Joseph
P. Klein of Temple Emanu-El 12:30
p.m. Thursday, Nov. 19, at the
Crown Pointe building in Oak Park.
The topic will be "Who Is a Jew —
And Why Does It Matter?"
Rabbi Weil was ordained from
Yeshiva University and is a member
of the executive committee of the
Va'ad. Rabbi Klein was ordained
from the Cincinnati campus of -
Hebrew Union College-Institute of
Religion.
The meeting

Hillel Day School of Metropolitan
Detroit will hold an open house for
prospective new parents 7 p.m.
Tuesday, Nov. 17, at the school,
32200 Middlebelt Road in
Farmington Hills.
Hillel seeks parents with students
entering kindergarten and first grade
for the 1999/2000 school year. Parents
will have the opportunity to hear from
the principal as well as tour the facility
and meet the faculty.
Hillel is affiliated with the Solomon
Schechter Day School Association and
is a constituent agency of the Jewish
Federation of Metropolitan Detroit.
