Donations
For Chanukah
Congregation Shir Tikvah will under-
take its sixth year of caring for the
Jewish community at Chanukah time by
sharing with those less fortunate than
most. Volunteer Sara Behrmann works
with Jewish Family Services, which
annually provides Shir Tikvah with
more than 100 names of those people
who might otherwise not receive any-
thing for Chanukah. The system begins
with a large menorah with "candles"
which list the age, gender, and gift pref-
erences, if any, of the recipients who
remain anonymous to the congregants.
This menorah is then taken both to
Shabbat services and to Sunday's Family
Education Program for congregants to
select the number of "candles" which
they choose to light.
Gifts are returned at designated times
to temple or Sunday school. This year,
the menorah will be at services on
Friday, Nov. 13, and Friday, Nov. 20, as
well as at Sunday school, Nov. 15 and
22. Gifts should be wrapped and deliv-
ered to services on Friday, Dec. 4, or
Sunday school, Dec. 6.
