In The Midrash

Community educator Ruth Bergman
will discuss "Cain and Abel in the
Midrash" at an adult study session 8
p.m. Wed. Nov. 4, sponsored by Eilu
v'Eilu and hosted by Congregation Beth
Shalom, 14601 West Lincoln in Oak
Park.
Rabbi Marla Feldman, associate
director of the Jewish Community
Council of Metropolitan Detroit, will
lead the third session in the series on
Nov. 11, which will focus on the figure
of Esau in the Midrash. The final session
on Nov. 18, also taught by Rabbi
Feldman, will discuss a biblical character
chosen by the class.
Tuition is $5 per session for members
of the sponsoring organizations; $7 per
session for others. Advance registration
is encouraged but not required. Each
session is self-contained and can be
attended independently.

"Who Wrote the Bible?" will be 10-11
a.m. Monday, Nov. 2, at Borders Books
& Music, 30995 Orchard Lake Road,
Farmington Hills. It will focus on the
Dead Sea Scrolls.
The series is sponsored by Eilu v'Eilu,
the joint adult Jewish learning project of
the Detroit Conservative Movement.
New Students are welcome. The series
will conclude Nov. 9 with a wrap-up
session, "People Who Think They
Know Who Wrote the Bible," a review
of past and present controversies on this
subject.
Tuition is $5 per session for members
of sponsoring organizations; $7 per ses-
sion for others. Advance registration is
not required. Eilu v'Eilu welcomes par-
ticipation of all interested adults.
