Society Convenes
For Lecture Series

The Jewish Legal Society at the
Detroit College of Law at Michigan
State University has planned a "Lunch
and Learn" lecture series, beginning
noon-1:30 p.m. Wednesday, Oct. 21,
in room 344 of the law schoolbuild-
ing. Rabbi Steven Weil of Young Israel
of Oak Park will discuss "The
Interplay Between Jewish Law and
American Jurisprudence: Dina

DMalchuta Dina."
Weil, who earned his rabbinical
ordination at Yeshiva University, is a
member of the President's
Commission on Race and Education.
Participants may eat bag lunches as
they listen to the lecture; drinks will

Reschedules

Can you turn your back on her now?

Bais Chabad/Bais Menachem's dinner
has been rescheduled for 6:30 p.m.,
Dec. 13 at the Michigan Inn. The hon-
orees for this year will be Mr. and Mrs.
Chanan Lis.

The JFS resettlement department helps refugee fami-
lies successfully integrate into the Detroit Jewish com-
munity by providing bilingual case management, accul-
turation programs, document preparation assistance,
transportation services and citizenship classes.

B'nai David Hosts
Shabbat Dinner

Officers and members of the board of
trustees of Congregation B'nai David
will host a family Shabbat dinner on
Friday, Oct. 23. Cantor Ben-Zion
Lanxner will conduct services beginning
at 6 p.m. A traditional Shabbat dinner
will follow at 6:45 p.m.
There is a charge and non-members
may attend. Reservation deadline:
