Flint Temple
Hosts Speaker

Regina Moranrz-Sanchez, professor of
Flint's American Women's History at the
University of Michigan, will be the
speaker for Temple Beth El's 1998 Max
Hart Lectureship 7:30 p.m. Sunday,
Nov. 1, and Sunday, Nov. 8, at the tem-
ple.
Dr. Morantz-Sanchez was educated at
Barnard College and Columbia, where
she earned her Ph.D. in history. Her
research includes women in medicine
and more recently in Jewish women's
identity.
There is no charge for the lectures.
All are welcome.

Volunteers
Are Needed

Youtheatre is seeking eight qualified
individuals to fill volunteer positions at
Music Hall. The successful applicants
must enjoy working with children and
be available to work weekdays. As a
nonprofit arts organization, Youtheatre
relies upon volunteers for ushers in the
theatre and some clerical duties in their
offices.

Shir Tikvah
History Tour

Congregation Shir Tikvah's Adult
Education Committee will host a guid-
ed bus tour of historic Jewish Detroit on
Sunday, Nov. 8, with stops at a Jewish
cemetery, a former Jewish temple, and a
still-operating schvitz (Jewish sauna)
among other sites. Members and non-
members and any children over the age
of 12 (accompanied by an adult) are
welcome.
The cost is $15 per person, which
pays for the bus and the tour guide from
the Jewish Historical Society.
Participants can meet for a bring-your-
bag lunch at Congregation Shir Tikvah,
3900 Northfield Parkway, Troy, at 12:15
p.m. (drink will be provided.) The bus
will leave at 1 p.m. and return at 5 p.m.
Registration is required no later than
Oct. 23. To register or for information,
