The Michigan BBYO TASC pro- gram (Teens Actively Serving Communities) will host a skating party for residents of the Methodist Children's Village 1-3:30 p.m. Sunday, Oct. 25, at U.S. Blades in West Bloomfield. Coordinators Mike Levy of Jolson AZA and Samantha Won of Koach BBG plan an afternoon of fun activities for the children who will be paired with AZA and BBG members for the program. Staff coordinator is Shelly Katz. Michigan Region BBY0.will hold its fall conclave on Oct. 30-Nov. 1, at Camp Maas in Ortonville. The Detroit chapter of BBYO/JCC Teen Connection will visit Erwin Orchards in South Lyon for a Haunted House and Bonfire on Saturday night, Oct. 17. The char- tered bus will leave from the JPM JCC in Oak Park at 7:30 p.m. and from the Kahn JCC in West Bloomfield at 8 p.m. The return will be to West Bloomfield at 11 p.m. and to Oak Park at 11:30 p.m. The 7th and 8th grade program is open to all-Teen Connection members and first-time guests. BBYO will hold its next advisor group meeting 10 a.m. Sunday, Oct. 18, at the BBYO Chapter Service Center. Plans will be discussed for the Advisor Training Overnight, which will be held at the Windsor JCC on Jan. 9-10, and for the Advisor Israel Mission, which is scheduled to take place in the sum- mer of 1999. Sisterhood Hosts Fall Institute The Adat Shalom Synagogue Sisterhood will hold its annual fall institute on Tuesday, Oct. 20, 27 and Nov. 3. Participants will have the opportunity to attend two one-hour study sessions each morning. At 9:30 a.m., the rabbis of Adat Shalom will explore "The Wisdom of Solomon." Rabbi Herbert A. Yoskowitz will open the series with a look at the "Song of Songs" on Oct. 20. Rabbi Daniel Nevins will focus on "Proverbs" the second week and Rabbi Efry Spectre will discuss "Ecclesiastes" at the final session. At 10:30 a.m. each morning, the series will turn to "Today's Jewish Woman: Prayers, Celebrations and Community Involvement." The opening session will feature Rabbi Nevins with a talk on "Inclusive Language in Prayer-The Current Debate" (prepared in conjunction with Lynn Scheele Nevins). Shula Fleischer will talk about "Creative, Unique Holiday Celebrations" on Oct. 20. At the final program, Rachel Yoskowitz will discuss "Community Involvement: Options and Opportunities." Library Group Holds Workshop The 1998 Jewish Library Association Collection Development Workshop will hold its next meeting 1:30 p.m. Sunday, Oct. 25, at Adat Shalom Synagogue; a kosher deli lunch will be served. The workshop will begin at 2 p.m. Questions relating to building a library collection, where to find out about new Jewish books, and sites to purchase other media for personal accumulation will be on the agenda.
